  • Duration3 months

Overview

As part of the Victorian Government’s $5.5 billion Western Distributor Project, the Monash Freeway Upgrade is designed to ease congestion, boost traffic flow, and enhance safety along one of Melbourne’s busiest corridors – stretching from Geelong to Pakenham.

The upgrade included the addition of 30km of extra traffic lanes and the integration of smart roadway technology such as ramp signals, lane use management signs and automatic incident detection.

Our Role

Before construction began, extensive building condition surveys were required to mitigate risk and protect the interests of property owners along the corridor.

A large-scale condition survey program was carried out, encompassing:

  • 2,500 residential properties
  • 100 commercial properties
  • Numerous industrial buildings

All surveys were completed using a tablet-based mobile data capture platform, enabling:

  • GPS-tagged photos and videos
  • Condition commentary
  • Automated defect tables and PDF reports
  • Cloud-based data storage and access

To streamline the process for impacted communities, an online booking system and dedicated telephone hotline were used to facilitate scheduling and communication.

Outcome

Our dilapidation survey supported the responsible rollout of one of Victoria’s most significant infrastructure projects, ensuring transparency, risk mitigation, and peace of mind for thousands of stakeholders.
